Mecca Bingo is hosting one of the biggest ever fundraising events across 101 fellow bingo clubs that are situated throughout the UK. Starting on August 8th, the Mecca Bingo in Bridgewater staged a big charity fundraiser all day long in the aid of a great children's charity called the Whizz.
Each bingo club that is taking part in the charity fundraiser has set themselves a target goal of cash to raise. The Mecca Bingo chain have already pledge to raise at least £250,000 for the Whizz Kids charity during 2008.
All this comes as reassuring news since the bingo industry has been caught in an economic downturn. Mecca Bingo, perhaps rightfully so, believes they can help the state of bingo by enticing bingo enthusiasts to help others.
The general manager for Mecca in Bridgwater, Jenny Witcombe, commented, "Our customers and staff have already responded magnificently to the challenge of raising money for this fantastic charity and we are all committed to smashing our target by the end of the year. This special day will really set us up for the next five months and we are really looking forward to it."
The Whizz Kids charity was created and continues to help give disabled children a much more independent life through support and providing them with much needed mobility equipment. Their charity are virtually 100% reliant on donations made by the public and charity events taking place in their name, plus support of trusts and companies such as Mecca Bingo.
