The Longest Roll: Woman breaks casino record; "This was only my second time..." - May 25, 2009
A New Jersey woman has set an astounding new craps record at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. On the evening of Saturday, May 23rd, Patricia Demauro spent 4 hours and 18 continuous minutes at the craps tables, making it the longest craps roll in the casino's history.
According to Borgata officials, the previous craps record of 3 hours and 6 minutes was set almost 20 years ago.
Around 8:13pm Demauro bought into a craps game for $100. In very little time she managed to attract a large and supportive audience.
A dealer from another casino said he popped into the Borgata on his way home and witnessed a sizeable crowd gathered around the casino's craps table.
"I joined them, and found she had been going already for more than three hours. The pit bosses were saying it might be a record, and she played for an hour after that," he said.
She "sevened out" at about 12:31am – an impressive 154 rolls of the dice later. Her feat was toasted with champagne.
"This was only my second time playing craps, so this was very exciting for me to be a part of history," Demauro said.
The casino will not say how much she won.
